Welcome to Delaware Park and the Delaware Jockeys’ Association, the race track with one of the best Health & Welfare programs for jockeys in America. If you are a new jockey to Delaware Park or have ridden here before, please take time to thoroughly read this website in order to maximize the benefits available to you and your dependents. There are several programs available to you, including the following:

On-Track Medical & Disability Program
Delaware Park provides the highest non-workmen’s comp on-track medical and disability coverage for jockeys in the United States. The coverage levels are at least double of all other race tracks in the United States, with the exception of the four states requiring workmen’s compensation (CA, MD, NJ, & NY). Temporary disability income provides 75% of current jockey racing income up to a maximum of $500 per week. On-track medical benefits are $2 million, with the benefit period increased from 36 months to 60 months. Accidental death and dismemberment coverage is $200,000.
This program provides coverage for you any time you are exercising horses or riding races on the premises of Delaware Park.
The cost of this program is paid for by Delaware Park, the Delaware Jockeys’ Health & Welfare Fund, and jockeys. There is a mandatory $4 fee deducted from every jock mount.
‘Off-Track’ Health & Welfare Benefits Program

We offer a full range of affordable subsidized health and welfare benefits for the Active Delaware licensed jockeys who ride the qualifying number of races (currently 100), Retired Delaware jockeys who meet the retirement eligibility requirements, and their dependents. The benefits offered include health, dental, vision, life insurance, prescription plan, non-occupational short-term and long-term disability, as well as accidental death & dismemberment.
Free Counseling Service
Counseling services are provided free of charge for all Delaware licensed jockeys and their dependents. If you or a dependent need assistance with anger management, depression, mental health issues, stress or anxiety issues, gambling addiction, substance or alcohol addiction, or track licensing issues, help is just a phone call away. All counseling services are strictly confidential.

Inaugural Lady Legends Race and Jockey Challenge Scheduled For Preakness Eve Card
BALTIMORE, March 31, 2010—Pimlico Race Course and Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the world’s largest breast cancer organization, announced today a partnership to raise funds to aid awareness and research to take place on Black-Eyed Susan Day, Friday, May 14, 2010. Pimlico has pledged to raise a minimum of $100,000 for Komen for the Cure. Fifty percent of the funds raised will go to the Komen Maryland Affiliate to use for community outreach programs in Maryland and 50% will be used for life-saving breast cancer research.
